Merida's "Top Adventure Activity" Canyoning: 
Exploration traveling down an incredibly beautiful canyon (Santa Catalina) just 30 minutes away from our office. How? - by walking, sliding, rolling and abseiling (rappelling) down waterfalls dressed with neoprene wet suits and Petzl harnesses and equipped with special static "Mammut" canyoning ropes.

Who:

This is not a trip for the faint hearted. This is the full-on adventure trip. Expect to feel the adrenaline pumping! Only those who want a real adventure should participate. Fitness is NOT required - but some guts are!

Itinerary:

Meet at Arassari Treks cybercafé and office at 9 am on the departure day. Put on the wet-suits and drive 30 minutes to the location. Expect some amazing views of Mérida (possibly the best available). Another 30 minute walk (mainly downhill) to the site. Some abseil training is given - then it's time for the adventure of your life !!! There are several small "chutes" to slide down, a heart pounding 7- 8 meters natural hydro slide (where you will get airborne !!), and three powerful waterfalls to abseil (rappel) down including a 35 meter monster at the end. The trip will return around 4pm (depending on numbers and speed). The actual time in the canyon is around 4 hours app. A real hard-core adventure, can you handle it?!!

What to bring:
Swimming costume or similar (to wear under your wet suit)
Shoes for canyoning (they will get very wet!!!·and please wear socks.)
Clothes for the end of the trip - and a towel.
A great sense of adventure for a fun time!! 
What about Glasses/cameras etc: 
Glasses or contacts are normally OK - bring a string for glasses. For the canyon, disposable cameras or waterproof cameras are recommended. Normal Cameras cannot be used in the canyon. Leave watches, earrings and other jewelry at home or at the office. You will want photographic evidence of this one !!
How to get to Merida:

From Caracas to Merida fly Avior und Santa Barbara (150,- $US one way). Bus connection from Caracas (12h), Ciudad Bolivar (16h) and Puerto Ordaz (17h). We recommend the comfortable busses from Expresos Occidente, Los Llanos and Caribe. If not available you can also use "Turgar" or "San Cristobal".

We also provide a pick up service or assistance at the international airport in Caracas or Porlamar (Isla de Margarita).

If you have a medical condition which could affect this trip, please make this known to your guides as soon as possible and bring your medication. 

We will make every practical attempt for you to canyon - but due to rain or other reasons if the canyon becomes unsafe we reserve the right to cancel the trip. A full refund will be given if we cancel the trip.
